0

The big day ! Today, two young West Indies, Shanika, 19, from Saint-Martin and Aude, 22, from Martinique, will officially sign their contract of employment with the Air Force.

The very afternoon of their signing, the two new recruits will fly to air base 107 in Villacoublay for their incorporation, before undergoing initial military training and then specialty training. Aude, 22 years old from Saint-Joseph in Martinique, chose the specialty of warehouse agent to work in operational logistics.

Shanika, 19, from Saint-Martin, will become an operations officer, thus participating in the preparation of flights for the benefit of Air pilots (updating of aeronautical documentation, routing and exploitation of plans flights, situation tables, monitoring of operational activity, etc.).

In 2015, the armed forces recruited 321 young West Indians (255 in the Army, 40 in the French Navy and 26 in the Air Force).

By November 15, 2016, 25 young West Indians will have signed an employment contract with the Air Force: 13 Martiniquais, 7 Guadeloupéens and 5 Saint-Martinois.

For 2017, the recruitment need within the Air Force at the national level will be 2 personnel in more than 700 different trades. _AF
