Without doubt the biggest event of Saint-Martin, and the most spectacular popular festival on the island, the 2018 carnival will take place this year from February 10 to 14 inclusive. An announcement made by the president of the Carnivalesques de Saint-Martin association, Luciana Raspail, last Thursday, at the restaurant of the Yacht-Club Marina Fort-Louis, in the presence of representatives of the Collectivity, the Tourist Office, partners and the press.
"All of the members of the Carnivalesques de Saint-Martin association join me Luciana Raspail, President, to present our warmest and most enthusiastic wishes for this new year 2018.
As you know, the climatic events of September 2017 marked a halt to the activities of Saint-Martin in general, and to the programs of Carnival Festivities in particular. Indeed, FCDSM, these are women and men who were all affected by the disaster and were forced to turn away, for a time from their passion, to rebuild themselves. The population which usually participates and animates the Carnival has also faced the emergency, as have businesses which are essential partners. Our village was completely destroyed and served as a storage area for waste collected throughout the territory, but we will endeavor to find a place to permanently install our village of festivities.
But, you also know, Carnival is the moment when everything starts again, it marks the entry into a new era in which everything is allowed again! It is in this spirit that we decided to maintain, in 2018, for the 7th season of FCDSM, a program of carnival festivities worthy of our tradition where we will find the main components of Carnival namely parades, musical entertainment and the famous "J'Ouvert Morning" from February 10 to February 14, 2018 on the Sea Front in Marigot.
Although reduced compared to previous editions, we are convinced that it will delight young and old, our fellow citizens and our visitors, by demonstrating our joie de vivre and our culture of celebration. I thank here of course all the members of FCDSM who mobilized quickly, the Collectivity and the Tourist Office of Saint-Martin for their support and also our private partners for the loyalty of their commitment alongside us despite circumstances SOUND MASTERS, MAD DESIGNS, KALABOOM TEAM, CARNAVALESQUE GROUPS, SCHOOLS, CTOS and LEISURE ACTIVITIES.
The meeting is scheduled for February 10 under the theme "WE CULTURE, WE FETE"!
