The Saint-Martin Youth Symphony Orchestra is born

In Marigot, the Pianissimo music school organized an open day last Saturday to recruit several young musicians who will join the youth symphony orchestra of Saint-Martin. The first official rehearsals will take place next month.

About thirty young people were welcomed to the school, according to the organizers. The musicians were treated to a presentation of the instruments, before being guided by the Canadian conductor Jean F. Renaud, who now resides in Saint-Martin. “Many had never touched these instruments and none had even attended a symphonic concert. (…) Each section was invited to follow the score and a modest interpretation of Beethoven's Hymn to Joy echoed timidly in the port of Marigot ”, they specify. Another open house will be held on February 20 to recruit other young people. Registrations must be made by email: osj-sxm@outlook.com. For more information, contact the school on 05 90 29 50 14.
