School canteen: problems have already been reported

The services of the school canteen are often criticized in Saint-Martin. At the start of the year, parents asked us about the quality and quantity of the food served. Three weeks after the start of the school year, problems have already been reported, some still relating to quality and quantity.

Recently the main course was chicken and rice. “We have thirty children who eat in the canteen and we were delivered 30 chicken drumsticks,” explains a primary school principal. This quantity problem has already been observed since September 1 and reported but no response has yet been provided. “On the other hand, there was some rice left! », She emphasizes.

Rice is a regular accompaniment, note several mothers. “But the children don't eat it because it's poorly cooked, it's not good,” one of them confides. “Too many repetitive meals (always rice)” is also denounced in a petition posted yesterday on the change.org platform.

"I created this petition for an improvement of the school canteen at SXM", explains Clarisse, whose son has encountered another difficulty since entering sixth grade. He is autistic and needs support. If in class, he is supervised, in the canteen he is alone. “Indeed, access to an attendant is refused. He therefore has to fend for himself, which he cannot do because he has autism. He needs help. They are four in his class, two in sixth and two in fourth and even the fourth are not helped. The teacher offered to come and help them but her entry was refused in the canteen, ”explains this angry mother who had never had a problem in the canteen in elementary school. (soualigapost.com)
