Soon an autonomy of means in Saint-Martin

With the granting since 2016 of human resources and the extension of the courthouse in the old municipal library, the detached room of the tribunal de grande instance of Basse-Terre in Saint-Martin created by decree on 1er January 2016, is now able to function.

A decree granting it full competence was published on March 21 by the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Justice and of the Overseas Territories and will come into force on September 1. "On this date, the civil and criminal proceedings in progress before the tribunal de grande instance of Basse-Terre falling under the jurisdiction of the detached chamber of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy are transferred as is to the latter", is it stipulated.

Concretely, one of the great advances for the litigant is that he will no longer have to go to Basse-Terre to appeal a judgment rendered in Saint-Martin. From September 1, he will be able to do so directly at Marigot. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
