The public building in which the traders exercise their commercial activity is the subject of a peril order issued by the community following the damage caused by Hurricane Irma. Worried about their professional future in this building at the Marina Royale, the merchants awaited responses from the President, who reassured them of his willingness to support them in finding intermediate solutions.

While there is no legal obligation to relocate the dozen traders present in this building, President Gibbs made a point of supporting them: "I will not let down our socio-professionals who have settled in these premises since several years and whose business is the livelihood ”.

At present, the community as well as the traders await the verdict of the judge of summary proceedings, who must decide, next December 10, on the relevance of the expert opinions and the need or not to demolish the building. Meanwhile, the traders continue to carry on their activity.

If the demolition order is confirmed by the judge, the President will propose temporary relocation solutions, in particular the possibility of installing modules on the adjoining car park to allow traders to exercise their profession during the renovation works of the building. Special requests will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis to try to satisfy each stakeholder. Aware of the needs of each other, the President however clarified that the solutions will not be extensible because in the current situation, rehousing solutions are rare.

If the demolition order is overturned by the judge, the traders will be able to stay in the premises and continue their activity knowing that in the long term, the Collectivity plans a global project of renovation of the marina Port la Royale, whose main lines are in definition course and the first studies of which (legal form and content of the project) may begin in early 2019, after the end of the concession contract at Semsamar, which ends at the end of this year.

The discussions with the 5 traders present were constructive, the president wanted to reassure them about the relationship of trust that has been established and the support of the community. A second meeting between the President and the merchants will be organized after the judge's decision.
