Started last April, the solidarity project intended to create a road safety course for the association of Centers Français de Quartier, represented by Mr. Lainé, has made good progress.
Created in Quartier d'Orléans on the former basketball court which is located within the Sensamar salt flats and palm groves, the site is being led by the Compagnons Bâtisseurs as part of the "Les Colles de La Route" project to raise awareness of road safety among children between the ages of 3 and 16, whether they are in school or not, but also among adults and particularly those who are learning French as a foreign language. A first phase of work was organized in April 2022, the creation of the site was carried out directly on the concrete slab.
Thanks to the efforts of the facilitators, members of the association and a dozen volunteers, the former basketball court was then transformed into a road cycle path. If the bulk of the work was done during these two days of solidarity, the site required another intervention. Given the scale of the work to be done to finalize it, the association of Compagnons Bâtisseurs mobilized for two more days on 10 and 11 August. For this second session, the Compagnons Bâtisseurs are delighted with the progress of the work and especially the enthusiasm of the population. Once again, a dozen volunteers joined the project, including representatives of the ACS Zepin association, residents of Quartier d'Orléans and, of course, the Compagnons Bâtisseurs team. Despite the high temperatures, everyone present was thoroughly involved in the creation of the solidarity project, in a state of mind of sharing and a good communicative mood.
Each initiative promoted by the Compagnons Bâtisseurs is part of an educational approach where sharing of skills and solidarity predominate. At the end of these two days of work, the solidarity road safety awareness project in Quartier d'Orléans is almost complete. Some finishes such as the pedestrian crossings to be refined are still to be planned and the association of Compagnons Bâtisseurs intends to carry them out quickly to officially inaugurate this solidarity project which is helping to revitalize Quartier d'Orléans while allowing the population to meet around of a space dedicated to young people. _VX
