They were the best chances of a medal at the French Beach Tennis Championship which took place last weekend in Dunkirk. Jade Guindé and Amélie Thiant won the U14 girls final against Reunion, the ogre of these French championships.

“They are our best chances of a medal”. With these words, the entire Saint-Martin group pointed to the Guindé-Thiant pair as favorites in the U14 girls category at the French Beach Tennis Championship which was held on the beach of Malo-les-Bains in Dunkirk. The girls won all of their matches to reach the final without too much difficulty. In the final, they found themselves facing Reunion, which has won all the medals for years. “There was pressure because we were seeded number 1,” explains Amélie at the microphone of the French Tennis Federation. “It was very stressful even though we had prepared for senior tournaments. You arrive on the field where you know you must not lose. We knew how to handle the pressure.” In the same category, the duo Zoé Geibert and Charlotte Martinez finished just off the podium with a fine fourth place.
