It is time for the start of the school year, and the Rhythm and Groove dance school is no exception to the rule, its is scheduled for Monday, September 20.

To mark the occasion, Deyon Bovell, artistic director, is offering everyone the opportunity to try their hand at dancing during the first week of school (from September 20 to 25), free of charge. The styles are diverse and varied: modern jazz, classical dance, afro fusion, African dance, zumba, street dance or even contemporary dance, a large panel so that each little rat in the making can discover his specialty. At Rhythm and Groove dance studio, it's all about passion, Deyon often quotes American dance and choreography legend Martha Graham: “Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion. ("Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion."). This quote has also deeply marked Annaelle Maunier who has been spinning on the dance floor of the association since the age of 3 and who won the gold medal. raised at the Turn It Up dance competition held in the United States last May thanks to her breathtaking interpretation of contemporary dance to the song "Train wreck" by James Arthur. If it is Deyon that we owe the choreography, it is Annaelle who chose this song with a great emotional charge. The young dancer has reappropriated it to express through dance all her emotions linked to her attachment to the island and the damage still very present after Irma. Pride of the Rhythm and Groove school, Annaelle also won the title of best student for the year 2020/2021 by placing herself in the leading duo, all styles or dance classes combined. From the age of 10, Annaelle won an entry to the prestigious Paris Marais dance school for a summer internship on the virtuosity program 2022. The Rhythm and Groove association is definitely a pool of talents, which guides and encourages students to give the best of themselves. And Deyon and his team will not stop there because a new dance school will open its doors in Quartier d'Orléans from All Saints' Day. In the meantime, children from 3 years old and adults of all ages, whether you have the rhythm in your skin or not, let's dance!
