For several weeks, the Ministry of Finance has been organizing the competition. Three people applied. The drawings were posted on the Facebook page and "citizens were invited to vote for their favorite", specifies the government. “There were over 2000 votes. The winner received more than 1000 votes”.
“A drawing chosen by the inhabitants of Sint Maarten and which will be immortalized as a license plate. When schoolchildren are taught the symbols of Sint Maarten such as the flag or the anthem, your name will be pronounced along with those of other people important to the community,” said Finance Minister Ardwell Irion who also thanked the other participants. , Quinell Ming and Magueda Jackson.
Shadani Fleming's work depicts an airplane flying above the sun setting over the sea. There are also several local symbols. The lucky winner explained that she wanted to represent the beach of Maho where tourists come to admire the planes but also to enjoy the colors of the sky.
