Organized by the Health Agencies (ARS) of Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana, the 4th interregional days of health monitoring in the Antilles Guyana took place from November 5 to 7, in Martinique. The Zika virus, transmitted by the tiger mosquito, was on the agenda for discussions.

The main objectives of these days were to “strengthen the construction, structuring and mobilization of the interregional health watch network in the Antilles Guyana” and “contribute to knowledge sharing”. During this event, a panorama relating to questions on arboviruses was carried out, including the epidemiological surveillance strategy for the Zika virus. The High Council for Public Health (HCSP) recently issued an opinion on this virus, which has caused several epidemics around the world. It was recalled that the conditions for an indigenous transmission of this virus are met in the French Departments of America (DFA).
