Just a week ago, the principal assistant of the Mont des Accords college had to be transferred to the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital after having received two bottles in the playground in the back (note: she lost consciousness). Faced with this violent and gratuitous aggression, the college community wanted to react by means of a press release.

“This inadmissible act shocked the entire college staff as well as the students present on the scene at the time of the incident. However, this is not an isolated fact: for some time now we have observed a trivialization of violence (physical and verbal) in the courtyard and in the classrooms. It's time to end it!

Following this event, the teachers walked out in order to show their indignation.

Monday and Tuesday, we chose to meet urgently. Working groups including parents of students have been formed in order to reflect on solutions to improve the living environment in the college:

• Responsible students will be heard and punished commensurate with their act.

• The return to college will be as at the start of the school year: classes will be welcomed on Wednesday and Thursday according to a defined schedule so that reminders on the law and internal regulations are heard by the students.

• Classes will resume according to the schedule on Friday, but there again, work on respect and civic values ​​will be done with several teachers.

• The last measure is directly linked to the events of Friday: stopping recess if a single act of violence is noted (fight, dangerous games, etc.) and immediate return to the classroom.

To all the parents of students who will read this message, know that if we do not work together for the education of young people, it is their future and the future of Saint-Martin that may suffer ...
