THEParis-Orly Airport is now closed to passenger traffic since Tuesday, March 31, 2020, due to the collapse of air traffic following travel restrictions related to the coronavirus.

« It's a first, just like this pandemic is a first for a century », Regrets Augustin de Romanet, CEO of Groupe ADP.

The Parisian platform, which hosted 32 million passengers in 2019, received its latest commercial flights on Tuesday before going to sleep indefinitely.

On Monday, it recorded only 20 aircraft movements and a thousand passengers, against usually 600 movements and 90 passengers daily.

The Paris-Orly control tower will remain active for state flights, medical flights and emergency diversions.

Some 80 aircraft are now immobilized on the storage areas, a taxiway, a maintenance area and a concrete runway. Device sensitive areas, such as Pitot probes that measure the pressure experienced by the airplane in flight, or the engines, are protected.

In terms of shops, more than a hundred shops, bars and restaurants had to lower the curtain. The Red Cross took charge of the homeless who had taken up residence at the terminal.
