During the night of April 19 to 20, the Germinal surveillance frigate of the armed forces in the Antilles intervened about fifty kilometers off the coast of Martinique to intercept a go fast suspected of drug trafficking. Chased by the surveillance frigate Germinal and his Panther helicopter, the go fast threw several dozen bales of drugs into the sea when it was intercepted. Research carried out by the Germinal's boats with the support of a Customs helicopter led to the recovery of 48 bales of drugs.

The 4 alleged drug traffickers were placed in police custody as soon as the frigate docked. This take is the first of 2016 for the armed forces in the Antilles. It brings the balance sheet for this year 2016 to almost 2,7 tonnes of drugs intercepted at sea by the joint action of all French services in the Antilles maritime area. _AF
