The Espace santé jeunes officially opened its doors last Friday at rue Léopold Hyman, in Concordia. The health agency (ARS) Guadeloupe / Iles du Nord funded this new structure. The staff will welcome the young people on site and will also travel to schools to educate students on different themes, including sexual health, nutrition and addictions.
“The Maison des ados has become the Espace santé jeunes. Originally, the project for this house was carried out to meet the expectations of adolescents, their parents and professionals. This structure was intended to be a branch of the care center for addiction care and prevention in the Northern Islands ”, explains in the preamble to her speech the president of the association AIDS / Les Liaisons Dangereuses Ketty Karam Fischer, in the presence of the vice -president in charge of the Solidarity and Families Pole Ramona Connor, the director general of the ARS Patrice Richard, the prefect Anne Laubies and the territorial delegate of the ARS Pascal Godefroy. From its opening in May 2012, this place was already very busy. In 2014, 3.344 passages were made, according to the association. “Think tanks and conference-debates will be set up quarterly on the site,” adds Ketty Karam Fischer. “We worked in collaboration with Pascal Godefroy, not only at the local health level, but also at this Maison des jeunes. The association AIDS / Dangerous Liaisons has positioned itself on one of the axes of this youth health plan. I invite the associations of the island to also position themselves on other axes, because the COM needs the support of the various associations, there is much to do ”, underlines the vice-president. “When we, with Pascal Godefroy, advanced on this action plan in favor of the health of young people, we wanted to develop the Maison des ados towards this space, which is even more geared towards health”, specifies Patrice Richard. The guests were then treated to a guided tour with Didier Witczak who takes care of the technical direction of the structure. It is the headquarters of the association AIDS / Dangerous Liaisons, rue Fichot in Marigot, which coordinates the staff and manages this space.
