588 kg of cocaine seized from a sailboat

On May 2, the Caribbean antenna of the OCRTIS (Interregional Department of Judicial Police Antilles Guyana), reported the transport of a large quantity of cocaine on a sailboat from South America. Acting within the framework of the Action of the State at Sea under the authority of the Prefect of Martinique, the regional direction coast guard of the customs was missioned to intercept this sloop called "ALDABRA". 

On May 4, two coast guard speedboats, that of Saint Martin "SUALOUIGA" and the Pointe à Pitre speedboat "PITERA", supported by the RACAM helicopter, intercepted ALDABRA 56 nautical miles west of the coast of Guadeloupe, in the Caribbean Sea.

Engaged immediately, the search of the ship revealed several hundred cocaine buns for a total weight of 588 kg. Convoyed by customs officials to Fort de France, the sailboat arrived at the naval base on May 5 at 17:00 p.m., the time at which the people arrested and the narcotics were delivered to the OCRTIS antenna, instructed by the prosecutor of the Republic of judicial investigations led by the JIRS1. _AF
