Zika: towards a rapid screening test

0

A test to quickly detect the Zika virus in blood and saliva was designed by American researchers from Harvard University. The virus could soon be detected at low cost: this new test should be available at only one dollar per patient, according to scientists who have successfully tested it on monkeys. Their work has been published recently in the journal Cell.

In Saint-Martin, Zika is progressing: 82 biologically confirmed cases have been identified, including two pregnant women, indicates the latest bulletin of the interregional cell of epidemiology Antilles-Guyane (CIRE). The regional prefecture has announced the recruitment of 160 health prevention officers in the communities “to strengthen the teams in the field”. _EH
