37% of doctor positions in hospitals are vacant in overseas France

According to the latest report from the National Center for Hospital Practitioners and Management of the Hospital Public Service (CNG), 2 posts for hospital practitioners are budgeted, 268% of which are full-time. This represents 92 doctors per 270 inhabitants against an average of 100 in mainland France. 

The difference is especially significant at the specialist level: 130 medical specialists per 100 inhabitants overseas compared to 000 in mainland France. With regard to general practitioners, the French overseas departments have 185 doctors per 139 inhabitants compared to 100 in mainland France.

Overseas, 37,7% of full-time positions are vacant and 61% of part-time positions. In France, it is 27% and 46% respectively.

It is in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon that vacancy is the most important with 77,8% for full-time positions, these are nine in number and only two are occupied.
