The waste collection market costs more than 154 euros per month

Until then, there were eight household waste collection circuits and seven bulky items provided by nine partly French companies.

This service was the subject of a public contract for an annual amount of 1,32 million euros. The collection of green waste, that of the sorting terminals, the evacuation of the skips to the waste reception center in Galisbay, the cleaning of the garbage bins and their rental were other markets. The total cost of waste removal was around 2,02 million euros per year, or 168 euros per month.

In 2020, the Collectivity decided to change its strategy by dividing the territory into four sectors and asking companies to manage all services by sector (from collection to cleaning). A call for tenders was launched last October; it included five batches: four for the collection of all waste by sector and one for the evacuation of waste deposited in the recycling center.

To be able to respond, companies have organized themselves. Five who were already - individually - beneficiaries of a contract (Uranie Transport and Cleaning, LA Transport, Lets, GL Cleaning, Transports Philips), came together in a group called Luciana Veira Gomes. The group was selected to ensure the collection of waste in three of the four sectors of the island; companies thus collect household waste, green waste, bulky and must also empty the sorting stations with different material means. The group has also obtained the lot relating to the removal and transport of the waste collection dumpsters. All the waste collected is transported to the ecosite in Grande Caye.

The last batch (collection of all waste in sector number 4) was also unanimously allocated by the members of the executive board to the company Jocelyn Mathias Charles.

The value of this new contract amounts to 7,72 million euros for a period of fifty months, or 154 euros per month. This is approximately 532 euros per month less than the cost of services according to the old markets.
