The National Association of Diving Instructors (ANMP) officially donated € 4000 to the SNSM station for sea rescue workers in Saint Martin on January 12, 2018, at the 20th Diving Fair, at the Palais des expositions from the Porte de Versailles in Paris.

In his message of thanks to the ANMP, the President of the SNSMa station also included all other private donors who contribute more than 95% of its budget. The National Association of Diving Instructors and all private donors therefore also participate in this mission of public utility: rescue at sea.

He also praised the dedication of all the volunteers of the Saint-Martin station who, despite their family or professional constraints and the fact that some of them were victims following the passage of Cyclone Irma on September 6, continued to ensure, without fail, the upkeep, maintenance and operation of the station and its nautical resources, the training of crew members and the numerous sea rescue missions at the request of the CROSS des Antilles-Guyane.

The donation from the ANMP will be used to renew certain equipment on the semi-rigid "Rescue Star", partially damaged by cyclone Irma but operational at 100%. As for the star SNS 129, damaged during cyclone Gonzalo in 2014 and under repair in Saint-Malo, it has just been returned to the water for the final tests, and its return to Saint-Martin should be effective in February.

Despite the absence of an official representation of the islands of St-Martin and St-Barthélemy among the stands of this 20th International Diving Fair, René-Jean Duret reminded the audience that these two islands still had many attractive diving sites, that the confidence, loyalty and solidarity of tourists (lovers of boating and nautical sports, in particular) was a way to contribute to economic and social recovery during this delicate period of post-war reconstruction. cyclonic, and that there was no longer any reason to ignore the tourist destination of St-Martin / St-Barth.
