Since yesterday an area of low pressure associated with showers and thunderstorms, located halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles continues to organize

It passed to the stage of tropical depression on Tuesday, July 21 in the afternoon, making it the 7th of the year in the Atlantic basin. This tropical depression # 7 is moving westward at 16 km / h.

This is the first low of the 2020 season which forms in the Atlantic and which could therefore concern us, the first 6 having formed in the Caribbean basin.

This tropical depression, if it intensifies, would become Tropical Storm Gonzalo in the coming days.

However, however the situation evolves over the next few days, conditions for an escalation will be less favorable by the weekend, according to the National Huricane Center in Miami.

More precise information and trajectory forecasts will be known in the evening.

Note that we have already experienced a small hurricane named Gonzalo in 2014 which has remained in some memories in Saint-Martin, but this one having done no damage in the Caribbean islands nor affected the American coasts, his first name is reused this year.

Let's stay tuned.
