Quality Price Shield: comparison of baskets overseas

0

Last Friday, the prefecture and Super U signed an agreement to set up the quality price shield (BQP) within the brand's two stores. This system is being implemented in Saint-Martin for the first time. However, it has existed since 2013 in the overseas departments. What are the prices there? How many products are affected? Comparison of quality-price shields overseas.

In Saint-Martin the BQP is made up of 57 products for a maximum price of 97 euros, which makes an average price per item of 1,70 euros. This is where the basket is the least expensive but also includes the fewest products, elsewhere overseas it includes around a hundred items on average.

In Martinique, it includes 101 products for a maximum price of 307 euros, i.e. an average price per product of 3 euros.

In Réunion, the basket is made up of 109 products for a maximum price of 253 euros. It includes more items at a much lower price than in Martinique. The average price per item is 2,32 euros. After Saint-Martin, it is on this island that it is the least expensive.

In Guyana and Guadeloupe there are three baskets depending on the type and size of the stores. In French Guiana, a distinction was thus made between large and medium-sized supermarkets (GMS), discount stores and convenience stores. In supermarkets, the basket of 80 products must not exceed 265 euros, in discounts the basket includes 51 items for a maximum price of 139 euros and in local shops 25 products have been selected for a ceiling price of 69 euros. The average price per item is € 3,31, € 2,72 and € 2,76 respectively.

In Guadeloupe, three baskets were created according to the size of the stores. In areas of more than 2 square meters, the basket includes 000 products for a price of 106 euros, in medium-sized areas (320-1000 square meters), the price of the basket of 2000 products must not exceed 104 euros and in shops of less than 320 square meters, a basket was made up of 1 products with a price of 000 euros. The average price per item is respectively € 70, € 180 and € 3.

With 57 products, the basket of the BQS of Saint-Martin is between the basket of 51 products at discount stores in Guyana and that of 70 products in local shops in Guadeloupe. In Saint-Martin, the ceiling price is 97 euros, in Guyana 139 euros and in Guadeloupe 180 euros. Here the average price per item appears much cheaper: it is one euro less than that of Guyana (basket which has fewer items) and 0,80 euros compared to the basket of Guadeloupe (basket that counts more articles).
