Yacht Hop: new release attempt

0

For the past three weeks, the London flag yacht Yacht Hop has been stranded at Nettle Bay. The nautical gendarmerie brigade and customs made several visits on board, the last having taken place on Monday afternoon. "There is no oil, the captain pumps the fuel into the tanks so that only the bare minimum remains when the boat is released," said the Saint-Martin prosecutor's office.

The pumping of fuel oil was also confirmed to us by the port authorities of Saint-Martin. "The unloading is carried out in order to lighten the boat and thus facilitate its release", specifies the director of the port who ensures that he is in permanent contact with the representative of the boat. “Rocks that could block the ship were also removed and a new anchor repositioned because the ship's anchor was too fragile,” he adds.

A new operation to take out the Yacht Hop was scheduled for Tuesday. (more details on www.soualigapost.com)
