Before Irma's passage, La Poste had an office in Quartier d'Orléans, but the premises were badly damaged. In 2019, the management had indicated that "they had been renovated but could not reopen for technical problems".
In May 2021, the new management confirmed that the presence of La Poste in this sector was “necessary”, so it worked “on a better establishment” with the prefecture and the Collectivity. The latter has just announced that a partnership between the three parties has just been recorded, also associating Semsamar, which provides ground floors of buildings in Quartier so that a territorial postal agency can see the light of day. Work will be carried out until May and the opening to the public is scheduled for June.
“The regional postal agencies contribute to the exercise of the mission of regional planning and their creation is the subject of agreements between La Poste and the communities. This standard agreement provides that the local authorities provide the premises of the agency, and that one or more territorial agents provide postal services, including emergency financial services (deposit or withdrawal of cash from a current account or from a savings within the limit of a ceiling). In return, the Post Office pays the Community a compensatory allowance which covers part of the remuneration of the staff and the part of the cost of the premises assigned to the postal agency (water, electricity, telephone)”, explains the COM.
The community will finance the work estimated at 37 euros as well as the annual operation valued at 800 euros. La Poste will contribute 88 euros to the annual operation. In addition, La Poste undertakes to train the territorial agent who will be made available to the COM.
The executive council has validated the agreement with La Poste aimed at the reopening of a postal agency in Quartier d'Orléans but in a different format.
