Towards the protection of the built heritage of Saint-Martin

0

Identifying and promoting the cultural heritage of our island is the objective of the census of the built heritage in Saint-Martin which will take place until the end of May. It is the Directorate of Territorial Archives and Heritage which steers and supervises this operation. In the field, this mission is led by Michèle Robin-Clerc, expert urban architect, and Elisabeth Dandel, art historian and specialist in cultural inventory. The six neighborhood councils were involved in this census, which notably concerns huts, churches, dry stone walls, so-called “bourgeois” houses, saltworks and even old plantations. A presentation of this work will be unveiled to the population around the 1st quarter of 2017.
