Easter holidays: Safety at sea and on the beaches: the instructions to be respected ...

0

Easter holidays traditionally mark an upsurge in boating and nautical leisure activities by the sea.

So that these activities at sea rhyme with safety, the Prefecture recalls the good reflexes to have:

Before going to sea:

- Consult the vigilance notices and the weather forecasts at sea: www.meteofrance.gp/previsions-meteo-marine-antilles-guyane/bulletin/cote

- Check the condition of your boat and your safety equipment;

- Make sure you have a means of communication;

- Inform your relatives of your intentions;

Whatever the activity, wear your bra which allows you to be independent in the event of a fall at sea and make sure that children always wear it. You are witness or victim of an incident or accident at sea: immediately contact the CROSS Antilles-Guyane to pass the alert (telephone 196 - VHF channel 16).

As a reminder, Easter is also a time when beaches are very crowded.

Safety rules on the beach:

• swim in supervised areas or, failing that, with other swimmers> respect the safety rules issued, in particular in the event of a ban on swimming or camping on the beach;

• accompany children to the water's edge;

• do not overestimate your physical capacities;

• avoid swimming within 2 hours of eating a large meal or consuming alcohol;

• gradually enter the water, especially after prolonged exposure to the sun, to avoid hydrocution.

Citizen recommendations

on the beaches and around:

• Everyone must take care to leave the premises clean and thus contribute to preserving the environment and the quality of the sites;

• Respect the regulations on protected areas;

• Dogs and cats are prohibited, particularly on turtle nesting sites;

• Clean the locations upon departure and take away your waste.
