Moored at the port of Marigot, the new rigid-hull boat of the gendarmes of the nautical brigade of Saint-Martin, called "le Dolent", was put into service last month.
With a length of 9,34 m and a width of 3,14 m, reaching the speed of 45 knots, it can accommodate 11 to 12 passengers excluding crew members, i.e. 9 to 10 shipwrecked standing and 2 shipwrecked lying down .
Powered by 2 engines of 225 CV, the "gendarmerie" qualifications required for the 2 pilots during the day and the 3 pilots by night are a certificate of Pilot of Boat, Gendarmerie of level 2 (PEG2) and the License of Embarcation Sur- motorized (PES).
Thus equipped, the nautical brigade will be able to carry out its missions: control of fishing, pleasure and professional navigation, protection of the environment of natural parks, or even control of flows by looking for infringements on the different traffics (gendarmerie source).
