0

The Minister of Tourism and the Economy, Arrindell-Doncher, announced the resumption of commercial flights at Juliana Airport on October 10. So far, flights to evacuate disaster victims have been carried out, but they did not meet the security standards required for commercial flights.

The establishment has suffered significant damage and everything will not be repaired for the resumption of flights. "Although we are reopening our airport, it will take us another six months to rebuild the platform," said the minister, who thanked the members of the establishment and civil aviation for their involvement in the refurbishment.

Changes will be made in certain areas and in terms of safety to allow the work; passengers will have to be patient until they return to normal.

“We are in discussions with all the airlines so that they can reschedule their flights. St Maarten is a destination which has been damaged and the road to reconstruction is long. But already hotels can accommodate tourists and the message we want to send to the world that we are back and we are doing everything to welcome you again, ”said the Minister.
