As every year, World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty is celebrated on October 17. On our territory, the Manteau de Saint-Martin will organize the old traditional event around this theme in its premises in Marigot.
Different activities will be offered, including a raffle. From 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. a clothing distribution will take place, followed by open doors until noon. On this occasion, a visit to the premises will be possible. At 12:30 p.m., a meal will be served. On the 2015 theme “Building a sustainable future: uniting to end poverty and discrimination”, this day has been officially recognized by the United Nations since 1992. This event has three objectives including “giving voice to the most helpless on the unworthy conditions they live, their daily resistance and their aspirations, "said the Ministry of Social Affairs.
