Caribbean football tournament: decisive match on Wednesday!

The U14 players of the Saint-Martin football selection have faced three teams to date, Grenada, Martinique and Saint Lucia. The Saint-Martinois won two out of three. They face the Cayman Islands on Wednesday. In case of victory, the young people will obtain their ticket for the semi-finals. 

“The match against Martinique was difficult.” With these words, Serge Weinum, vice-president of the Saint-Martin football league, evokes the defeat of the U14s against Martinique, a team feared from the start. The score: 2-1. However, the blues of Saint-Martin did not pale in showing all their technique on the ground.  The day before, August 13, the 18 players won against the modest team of Granada 6-1. 

A win and a loss combined. The third game was already decisive. The Saint-Martinois have regained the hair of the beast and have mastered, Monday, August 15, the players of Saint Lucia, 3-0. “The two victories give us one last chance,” assured the vice-president of the Saint-Martin football league. 

  Get a ticket to the semi-finals

On Wednesday August 17, Saint-Martin will face the Cayman Islands. “If we win we will be drafted into our group as the best second team,” assured Serge Weinum. Which means winning a place in the semi-finals and prolonging the stay of our athletes. _pc
