After their great victory obtained last February in Anguilla on the occasion of the 1st meeting of the "Friendly Islands Tennis Unification Cup Competition", the young tennis players of TCISM will welcome their Anguillian and Dutch counterparts on April 29 with the firm intention of impose once again in this high-level competition.
The creation of the Unification Cup is a very good thing for the development of local tennis. During the 1st meeting at the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA), players and coaches praised the perfect organization of this new tournament bringing together young tennis hopefuls from Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten and Anguilla.
"We were very well received in a beautiful space dedicated to tennis", emphasize Jurgen Richter, the TCISM coach and his assistant, Jean-Louis Virolan. We traveled with eight players aged 6 to 16. All rose to the occasion by delivering great games against tough opponents. At the end of the singles and doubles matches, we won the tournament with seven victories against six for Sint Maarten and Anguilla.
This very good result is the result of the work of the coaches and the investment of children and parents.
We must continue the work in order to integrate other young people into this selection”.
The young hopefuls of the Tennis Club Ile de Saint-Martin will be keen to shine at home on April 29 during a new meeting with their neighbors from Anguilla and Sint Maarten.
Young Saint-Martin tennis players will however have to be wary of their opponents who will thirst for revenge! _AF
