St. Maarten: two murders in one weekend

On the night of Saturday August 4 to Sunday August 5, around four in the morning, a man was killed in his vehicle.

Sint Maarten police were informed at 4:25 am of a shooting incident on the airport road near RBC and Banco de Caribe banks. Several patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene. On the spot, the investigators discovered the lifeless body of the victim, a man identified by the initials JW "Sitting in his car, he would have been shot when he left the parking lot" indicates the police of Sint Maarten.

The area was cordoned off to allow forensic scientists to take fingerprints and other evidence, and investigators to question any witnesses. Traffic was also diverted. “Dr Mercuur who arrived at the scene declared the victim dead. The body was confiscated by order of the Attorney General Martin Van Nes who was on the scene with the police chief Carl John and other heads of department ”reports the police of Sint Maarten on Sunday morning. She cannot provide further details at this time as the investigation is still in its infancy and no suspect has been identified or arrested. In the meantime, investigators are asking anyone who has seen what happened or has information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for this shooting, to contact the detective service by dialing 54-22222 ext. 213/214, the anonymous line 9300, 911 or send a private message to the Sint Maarten Police Facebook page.

On the morning of August 6, Monday, the police in Sint Maarten informed that a new murder had taken place at Marigot Hill Road Sint Peters. Another man was found dead in his car. The forensic police were on site.
