As part of the International Day Against Violence Against Women, the Soroptimist International Club of Saint-Martin is organizing a commemorative ceremony this Friday, November 29, 2019.

If we asked a citizen taken at random what November 25 means to him, there is no doubt that it would not mean much to him except perhaps Saint Catherine if he remembered old traditions... is however the date chosen by the United Nations to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The color chosen for this day is "Orange" which wants to symbolize a better world for women and girls. This day is also known as “Orange Day”.

On this occasion, the Soroptimist International club of Saint-Martin also wished to draw attention to this real scourge unworthy of societies of the 21st century.   century.

Two highlights are thus planned for this Friday afternoon. First at 16 p.m. in the Gardens of the Community with a commemorative ceremony in tribute to women victims of violence. Then at 16 p.m. at the Agrément roundabout with the laying of an orange scarf on the Lady Liberty statue.

Quite a symbol! _AF
