Many Saint-Martin families still in dire straits in France!

0

More than a month after the passage of Hurricane Irma, dozens of Saint-Martin families are still accommodated or not in hotels in Orly, without news from the public authorities.

Families survivors of Hurricane Irma are still staying at the hotel near Orly Airport, near Paris. For more than three weeks, between 100 and 150 people who have lost everything at home have been waiting for help from the authorities.

For children, no possibility to go to school; and no medical and psychological assistance. These families are desperate and no longer know where to turn.

On site, they have no contact outside the France horizon association. A mom is in an even more unlikely situation. Not only has this woman experienced the tragedy of losing her home, but for four days now she has had no hotel room. Each night, she finds refuge in the airport, where she and her three children spend the night as best they can.

Without news from the public authorities, these survivors have only one interlocutor three people from the France Horizon association installed in a corner of the hotel lobby. Two educators and a psychologist take turns with them to try to bring them help. France Horizon was to take charge of the temporary accommodation of the survivors of Saint-Martin, but more than a month after Hurricane Irma, many families are still in a situation of great distress. For how much longer ?  _AF
