The “patron of the canoe”, Jean-Claude Van Rymenant, will receive an honorary certificate from the International Marine Organization (IMO) for “heroic act at sea” with the star SNS 129 during cyclone Gonzalo, announced René-Jean Duret, the president of the SNSM station of Saint-Martin, specifying that only four certificates will be awarded on November 19 in London. Mr. Van Rymenant also received the medal for internal security, bronze level, by order of July 30, 2015 from the Ministry of the Interior. "I am very happy with this distinction which honors you and offers you my warmest congratulations," said Prefect Anne Laubies in a letter dated September 2.
