René-Jean Duret, the president of the national society of sea rescuers (SNSM) of Saint-Martin, presents his wishes to you. On this occasion, he takes stock of the last two interventions at sea and seeks the generosity of the population.

“In my personal name and that of all the members and crew of the SNSM station in Saint-Martin, receive the best wishes from our station for the new year 2016 and our thanks for your support in our volunteer sea rescue actions. in particular to all the donors who, after the decommissioning of our boat during a “heroic” rescue during Cyclone Gonzalo of October 13, 2014, responded to our calls or to those of the service clubs of Saint-Martin ” , says the president. Regarding last month's interventions by the station, they consisted in looking for missing fishermen at sea, near Prickly Pears. And to save from stranding a sailboat drifting south of the bay of Grand-Case, without a crew on board, according to Mr. Duret.

"Nautical tourism being one of the main economic resources of Saint-Martin, we therefore appeal once again to all goodwill who will be willing to help us, at any level whatsoever, in this action of public interest that is rescue at sea. In 2016, we are planning to acquire a second nautical means, in addition to our "Rescue Star" ", adds the president.
