SNSM: 2 hours of training for 30 team members from Saint-Martin station

0

On Sunday January 8, 12 team members from the SNSM station in Saint-Martin met for 2 hours of monthly training.

Divided into 2 groups, they discovered the daily menu:

- Review of first aid procedures, including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) better known under the name of cardiac massage, a technique that combines chest compressions and artificial ventilation.

- Review of the various first aid equipment and information sheet to be transmitted during each intervention requiring personal assistance

- Use, principle and operation of the motor-driven pump, a system which allows water to be sucked in and then delivered by a flow pressure phenomenon and which is used in fire fighting or in water suction in the event of of waterway. This was particularly the case during the recent Christmas Eve rescue mission. Despite the coldness, the team members finished in the water (cleaning the hull for some, and swimming for others).

It was a productive morning during which the volunteers mobilized and invested in mastering ever more precise and effective techniques and gestures in order to guarantee the success of their rescue missions at sea.
