Sint Maarten / Vehicle theft: several people arrested

0

Police in Sint Maarten continue the fight to stem the increase in vehicle thefts on the island. In recent weeks, several people have been arrested in possession of stolen vehicles.

During the various investigations concerning the theft of vehicles, the police discovered that the suspects arrested had damaged the chassis number and sometimes the engine number. Changes that made it almost impossible to find the original owners. Also, the detective service asks the population to help it locate the owners of the vehicles that have been seized.

Police in Sint Maarten are also asking people whose vehicle has been impounded to go to the police station in Philipsburg in order to collect it as soon as possible. Impounded vehicles can be collected, along with ownership documents, until Thursday, October 21, 2021.

The police  are working tirelessly to prevent vehicle theft, but say it is only with the help of the population that the circulation of stolen vehicles can be stopped.

The police are asking people who have information about stolen vehicles to contact the detective service on +1 721 54 2222, or the anonymous telephone number 9300, or to leave a message on the website www.policesxm.sx , or on the Sint Maarten Police Facebook page.

The KPSM provided a series of photographs of impounded vehicles, the owners of which could not be identified.
