On Monday, October 18, Philipsburg police received a call from Sint Maarten Medical Center, concerning a four-year-old child who allegedly consumed a cake containing marijuana, and who was hospitalized for observation.
According to the first elements collected by the police, it appeared that a woman had brought home a "Space Cake", and during a moment of inattention, the child would have consumed a piece of the cake. He was admitted for observation at the hospital and received treatment, while the suspect was later arrested.
Later that night, the woman's home was raided by law enforcement, who seized various items as part of the investigation.
According to police, symptoms associated with the consumption of edibles containing marijuana are often more severe than symptoms experienced after smoking marijuana.
