Robberies of grocery stores and restaurants are going well in Sint Maarten where two restaurants have been, again, the target of cash register skimmers. The two hold-ups took place in the evening of last Friday without causing any casualties.
The first cash drawer unloading took place around 20:10 p.m. at a restaurant located at Union Road in the Cole Bay area. The establishment, managed by a Chinese family, was visited by two young individuals dressed entirely in black, with hooded sweatshirts. The two young men grabbed the contents of the crate at gunpoint. Their package accomplished, the robbers fled behind the restaurant and passed out in the dark. Some twenty minutes later, the switchboard operator received a telephone call regarding another armed robbery that took place in another restaurant, located at Sucker Garden Road, near the branch line with Arch Road. According to information gathered on the spot, a young individual totally dressed in dark clothes entered the establishment of mouth with a handgun. After having demanded to visit the interior of the cash drawer, he grabbed the contents before disappearing towards Key. The special flight unit is responsible for both cases._RM
