If a business is the victim of an armed robbery or other violent attack, an SMS will be sent within a few minutes to the other merchants to warn them so that they can protect themselves.
It is the vigi-commerce or trade alert system that the gendarmerie is setting up on the French part of the island in partnership with the CCISM, the territorial police, the various merchant associations (AEC, Indian, Chinese ), Fipcom-Medef and the Federation of Very Small Enterprises (FTPE).
The SMS is written by the agents of the gendarmerie operational center (17) who receive the call from the victim merchant.
The message indicates the type of act (armed robbery, etc.), the place, the means of transport and who committed it.
A sticker will be placed on the shop windows indicating that they participate in the vigi-commerce system.
