Motorists will have to ease off… The government has announced the reduction of the maximum authorized speed from 90 to 80 km / h on two-way secondary roads, without a central separator… What are the axes concerned in Guadeloupe? An announcement that could be of interest to motorists from Saint-Martin, passing through Guadeloupe roads ...

Maximum speed on two-way secondary roads without a central separator lowered from 90 to 80 km / h as of July 1, driving license "withheld" in the event of an offense committed by phone in hand… Edouard Philippe announced last Tuesday at 18 measures to combat road fatalities.

The main one, lowering the maximum speed on secondary roads to 80 km / hour will be applicable from July 1, the Prime Minister said. And should therefore impact 90% of the road network in Guadeloupe.

High impact for road users

This measure concerns two-way roads (national or departmental), without a central separator. Roads with two double lanes (with or without median or central barrier) will not be affected.

According to Jean-Gabriel Quillin, director of Routes de Guadeloupe, out of the approximately 1 kilometers of tracks managed by the organization, 000 kilometers are affected by the measure. Clearly, in 900 months, the majority of the roads in the department will be limited to 6 km / h.

The government plans to adapt the highway code by decree for this first modification of the speed limit outside built-up areas since 1974. No change planned for truck drivers or new drivers, who must already drive 80 km / h maximum on these roads.

Areas not affected by this measure:

RN 1: the diversion of Capesterre Belle-Eau between the roundabout of the kassaverie and the Minors roundabout

RN 1: from the Montebello roundabout in Petit-Bourg to the Chauvel interchange at Les Abymes

RN 4: from the Chauvel interchange, to the Poucet interchange, at Le Gosier

RN 5: from the Perrin interchange, in Abymes, to the Berlette interchange, Morne-à-l'Eau

RN 11: from the Fond Sarail interchange, in Baie-Mahault to the Petit-Pérou interchange, at Abymes (the Alliance road)
