The holiday tranquility operation is carried out in Saint-Martin every year. It consists for individuals who go on vacation during the summer to report their absence to the gendarmerie or to the territorial police so that the police can monitor their house.
"This year, the operation has a special character," notes Lieutenant-Colonel Sébastien Manzoni. "At the start of the hurricane season, it is said that many people will leave the island during this period and their homes must be given special attention because they will be a favorable target for burglaries," he said. This is why he invites people who have planned to be absent, whether for a week or for several months, to report it.
They must complete a form (download from www.soualigapost.com) and drop it off at the gendarmerie in Marigot, Quartier d'Orléans or at the Savane, or at the territorial police in Marigot.
Interested parties can fill out and submit the form today. The surveillance will start from July 1st.
