RESCUE: Life-size exercise between the SNSM of St-Martin and the helicopter of the French Navy

0

On Monday April 4 between 16:45 p.m. and 18 p.m., volunteer crew members from the Saint-Martin SNSM, for the first time since the station was created, had the opportunity to participate in exercises in close collaboration with the Navy helicopter National, attached to the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA) and based in Martinique.

These extraordinary exercises made it possible to become familiar with the equipment and above all the techniques essential to the realization, in complete safety, of these rescue operations at sea.

Asking and attentive, each team member was at his post and scrupulously followed the instructions of the respective captains and commanders.

This professionalism and this perfect coordination enabled the helicopter to carry out several impressive approaches as well as a dozen helicopter lifts, both from the stern but also from the bow of the 129st category launch SNS 1, "Notre- Lady of the Garoupe”.

After an hour of high-intensity exercises, the two entities greeted each other and parted with respect, not without having exchanged their badges as tradition dictates.

This is a first colorful and fully successful collaboration for the resort of St-Martin and the volunteer team members present.

“We bet that it will be the first of a long series in collaboration with the French Navy, which we of course thank warmly. Thanks also to our Boss Gilles for the "remote" organization of this meeting. Congratulations to all for your commitment and long live the rescuers at sea and the Navy! ” underlines the SNSM station of Saint-Martin.

Finally, a big congratulations to the photographer for the images taken at the heart of the action! _AF
