On November 22, a nurse anesthetist tried to end his days in the operating room, that is, at his workplace at the Saint-Martin hospital center.
"It is a very serious and disturbing event," comments Valérie Denux, the director general of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and herself a doctor who is trying to understand the reasons which led this man to want to commit this act. .
For several months, even years, difficulties have been noted within the operating theater of the establishment. "But these are not difficulties linked to the operation of the service," says Valérie Denux. "These are intra-personal problems," she says.
Last February, an inspection was carried out in hospital departments, especially in the block. Recommendations have been made and are being implemented by the provisional administration. Tensions had dropped until recently.
"We cannot let such an act pass," admits the director of the ARS, who thus seized her superiors in Paris. A national mediator should be appointed and come to Saint-Martin to assess the situation.
"The time for discussion is behind us," conceives Valérie Denux, who wishes to burst the abscess. "You need a much firmer approach," she says. "It's a question of people who don't get along with each other," she insists. People who can thus, for example, oppose the choice of taking charge of a patient, who can protest against paramedical teams and patients. Which creates general discomfort. "Now as a doctor our superior mission is the patient", she recalls.
An investigation will thus be carried out internally in order to understand what is happening in the bloc and "sanctions may be taken, such as provisional suspensions, if faults have been committed", assures the DG of the ARS. In other words, it is a question of examining the behavior of certain personnel likely to be at the origin of the ambient discomfort.
As a reminder, recently, the doctor's contract was not renewed for this type of reason.
