Invited to pronounce themselves last month on the maintenance of the school rhythm in force today on the territory of the Collectivity, the School Councils of the 16 establishments of Saint-Martin voted in majority in favor of a return to the week of four days. A decision of which the President of the Collectivity took note.

The return to the four-day week, activated by the education services and which will be officially approved by the Executive Council, next Wednesday, July 26, will therefore be applied as of the start of the September 2017 school year in the schools of Saint-Martin.

The establishment hours will now be as follows: Mondays, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 13:30 p.m. to 16 p.m.

This return to the four-day week is accompanied by an increase in extracurricular activities and supervision, in accordance with the commitments made by the new majority of the Collectivity.

For a contribution of 50 euros per child for the 2017-2018 school year, the partnership set up with the Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires de Saint-Martin which has accentuated the training of its leaders, will guarantee students a quality welcome.

Calm games will thus be offered to schoolchildren every day of the week on the meridian break; homework help will be provided every evening from 16 p.m. to 17 p.m. Finally, on Wednesday morning, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., schoolchildren will benefit from a varied program of activities focused on sport, culture, manual activities or even “book-based” actions designed to effectively combat illiteracy.

As a reminder, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin allocates some two million euros this year to the renovation of schools in the territory. 1 million euros will also be committed to securing schools in Saint-Martin.

Finally, know that back to school is scheduled for next Monday, September 4
