The minutes are then sent to the prosecution, which decides on legal proceedings. Then the cases are examined by the criminal court of Saint-Martin and the offenders are penalized.
The powers to verbalize granted to agents are limited to the areas managed by the Reserve. The prefect of Saint-Martin would like them to be extended to the entire territory. "I'm trying to see how we can modify the order [which determines the missions of the Reserve] so that agents can intervene throughout the territory," says Sylvie Feucher, very concerned about environmental issues.
