Resumption of the activities of the association Les Liaisons Dangereuses by the Red Cross!

Begun two years ago, the process of merger between the French Red Cross and the Dangerous Liaisons was formalized Friday morning at the headquarters of the association rue Fichot in Marigot.

The association Dangerous Liaisons, founded in 1995, had for initial mission the implementation of the sensitization and information on HIV, the organization of a reception structure intended for the seropositive and the patients of the AIDS and the anonymous and free screening consultations; the structure then operated with volunteers and an employee.

The association's action has grown over time, the creation of a drug addiction support and prevention center and a "Youth Health" area have added to the initial public health mission.

The association now employs 12 people, it has accumulated 6000 passages and recorded 1400 screening tests for the year 2018.

"I wouldn't say that a page is turned but that the story continues," said Ketty Karam, President of Dangerous Liaisons.

"To make our missions sustainable, the Red Cross was the ideal choice because we were looking for a structure that shared the same objectives as us"; the passage of Irma reinforced this choice because the association in collaboration with the Red Cross had set up in October 2017 the operation of "Health Buses" to meet the most disadvantaged.

Jean-Christophe Combe, Director General of the French Red Cross, testifies to the “important responsibility that the Red Cross takes towards those we support but also the employees that we welcome within the big house Red Cross, we hope to live up to our promises and we will continue the activities of Dangerous Liaisons ”

The ceremony ended with a speech by Mrs. Annick Petrus, vice-president of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin: "as regards this good connection, the whole of the Collectivity is delighted that business is resuming", she salutes this partner, the Red Cross, a key player at regional level.
