Postponement of the output of Philippe Gustin's report

The interdepartmental delegate for the reconstruction of Saint-Martin, Philippe Gustin, was due to deliver his report and recommendations on Friday 10 November to the President of the Republic and the Minister for Overseas. However, it has just been decided to postpone its release.

The State's strategy has evolved and the latter now wants a more "operational" report. The recommendations hitherto defined by Philippe Gustin, will remain, but for the most concrete, it is a question of ensuring their feasibility and defining means. Discussions with elected officials and the various state departments concerned will therefore continue in the coming days.

The purpose of this new report is to serve as a basis for negotiations between the State and the Community for the preparation of a road map for the reconstruction of Saint-Martin. The stated objective of the State is that it be designed in consultation with the COM and local actors.

The outcome will then be the signing of a protocol which will specify the conditions, in particular financial, for the reconstruction. The two parties are scheduled to meet in mid-December to sign it.
