The greater part of the budget planned by the Collectivity for the repair of educational establishments will be devoted to secondary establishments, more than 3.6 million euros.
The Lycée Professionnel des Iles du Nord, in Marigot, the Cité scolaire Robert Weinum in La Savane and the colleges of Mont des Accords, Quartier d'Orléans and Soualiga (Cul de Sac) which were extremely damaged by the hurricane, will be under construction all summer. The Soualiga college will not be rebuilt, some of its buildings still standing will be restored to house in the future decentralized services of the Community.
The College of Mont des Accords located in Concordia hosted for several months after September 6, NGOs, the French Red Cross, Electriciens sans Frontières, who arrived in the territory to lend a hand to the population traumatized by the hurricane, and the to help in its reconstruction.
Since the start of the new school year in November, college students and teachers have had a complicated year there, due to the number of rooms that cannot be used. But then again, it is without complaint that they finished the 2017/2018 school year. Due to the importance of the work to be done, it will not be completed until the end of 2018. The protective measures for the roof were started in April. The final repair work on the roofs of the entire establishment, for an amount of 400 euros will be continued during the summer and will be spread out until the end of the year. Likewise, the repair work on the doors and windows which started at the end of March is scheduled to be completed the last week of August. The work to restore the fences, which also started in March, is still in progress.
The last door repairs to some classrooms and the exterior and interior painting work will be completed by the end of the year.
It is a total amount of 515 euros that the Community has budgeted to rehabilitate the college of Mont des Accords. The pupils who attend school will return, in September, to an establishment whose work will be nearing completion.

In total, the Collectivity has planned a budget of 9,5 million euros for the rehabilitation of 18 public schools with the absolute priority, the return of schoolchildren on the school benches in optimal conditions at the start of the new school year in September. 2 million euros have already been paid to companies that carried out emergency repairs that enabled the children to return to school on November 6, 2017.
